This town house with a storehouse built in the Meiji era once housed a saw shop and later a saw mill.

The aim of this project is to revive this vacant house, which has lost its former characteristics as a town house due to repeated extensions and renovations, by converting it into a guest house and reviving it into an attractive space.

During the design process, we considered a design that would combine new elements with vestiges of the past, such as the building's structure, old earthen walls, and demolition remains.

We redefined the nature of town house elements such as shoji screens, sliding doors, transoms, storehouses, and small gardens, and built up a design through repeated dialogue with the building, sometimes collaborating with artists and designers, without being bound to their original uses.

The first floor features a multi-purpose space that can be used for local get-togethers and events, as well as a shared kitchen.

It is hoped that through interaction between travelers and local people, new charms of the area will be discovered.

The shower rooms and other bathroom facilities, which have been left in an original storehouse, can be used jointly by guests and local residents and are a symbol of the facility.

The second floor features dormitory rooms, group rooms that can accommodate groups of four, and spacious family rooms, meeting a variety of accommodation needs.

We hope that the facility will develop in the future not only as a tourist facility, but also as a place for local people to interact, discover the area's charms, and encourage relocation, all with a variety of significance.
