L’ŒIL DE TOKYO
Located in a corner in front of Jiyugaoka Station, this eyewear shop is owned by a French person. We aimed to create a store that anyone can drop into, like a friend's house. The interior is furnished with sofas and potted plants, creating a living room-like atmosphere where you can leisurely choose your glasses while sipping coffee. We hoped to create a space that would naturally bring the city and the store, and the staff and customers closer together. At the center of the store is a custom-made terrazzo counter made from recycled materials donated by an eyewear factory in Sabae City, Fukui Prefecture. The surface, with crushed wine bottles and recycled glasses embedded one by one, is humorous yet quietly conveys a connection to the place of origin. We hope to create a place where eyewear can be used as a medium to create connections between people that can only be enjoyed here.
