Courthouse in TONAMI
This wooden, single-story house stands on a site overlooking the rural landscape of the Tonami Plain. By adopting a courtyard house format with a central courtyard, the house allows for continuous line of sight and movement through the courtyard, allowing residents to sense the presence of family members no matter where they are in the house. Picture windows frame the rural landscape, creating a way to make the familiar scenery seem even more endearing.
The exterior has a dark grey plaster finish, and the minimalist, abstract design avoids exposing materials that give the impression of being a "residential home," such as windows, creating an objet d'art design that harmonizes with the surrounding vegetation.
During the day, natural light is brought into the room through the courtyard while maintaining privacy, and filtered through lace curtains, filling the room with high-quality, soft light.
At night, the lighting plan focuses on downlights and indirect lighting, creating a calming atmosphere.
