Hamlet

「Hamlet」とは「小集落」を意味する言葉です。

本計画は比較的大きな家々が立ち並ぶ住宅街に立地し、河川を挟んで公園に面しています。地域の人々や子どもたちが利用する公園に対して圧迫感が少なく親しみやすい外観とするため、住まいを単一の大きなヴォリュームとしてではなく、ヒューマンスケールな家々の集合体として再構築することを試み、高さ・大きさの異なる小さな屋根が身を寄せ合う、親しみ深い集落のような佇まいとしました。

一方その内部空間はすべてが緩やかに繋がった一室空間（ワンルーム）となっています。これは家事、育児、団欒といった生活のすべてをリビングで完結させたいという要望や、畳・ソファの両方でくつろぐ家族が親密な距離感で過ごせるように配慮したことで生まれた空間構成です。高低差が異なる屋根の構成にハイサイドライトを設けることで、それらの空間の隅々にまで自然光を届けることができています。

また、公園との関係性について、公園に面する開口部の高さを抑え、そこにデスクやベンチなどの機能を持たせ、デッキと連続させることで、公園とのつながりを持った中間領域的な家族の居場所を生み出しています。

集落のような親密さと、ワンルームの開放感、そして家族の居場所を各所に設けることで、「Hamlet」は豊かな生活の背景となる場をつくり出しています。

"Hamlet" refers to a small settlement. The site is located in a residential area lined with relatively large houses, facing a public park across a river. To ensure a friendly appearance that does not overwhelm the park frequented by local residents and children, we attempted to reconstruct the residence not as a single massive volume, but as a collection of human-scale houses. The result is an appearance reminiscent of an intimate settlement, where small roofs of varying heights and sizes seem to huddle together.

In contrast, the interior is a loosely connected continuous one-room space. This configuration was derived from the client's desire to complete all daily activities—housework, childcare, and family gatherings—within the living room, while maintaining an intimate distance between family members relaxing on both tatami mats and sofas. By utilizing the varying roof heights to install clerestory windows, natural light reaches every corner of the expansive space.

Regarding the relationship with the park, the height of the openings facing it is kept low to provide a sense of calm. These openings are equipped with functional elements such as desks and benches and continue onto an outdoor deck, creating an intermediate domain where the family can spend time while maintaining a connection to the park.

With the intimacy of a settlement, the openness of a one-room space, and various places created for the family, "Hamlet" serves as a rich background for daily life.
